So… Crowd Cow? You may have several questions regarding everything related to it. This guide will highlight how this organic meat marketplace piles up against the market competition. And be assured that this guide reflects my personal experience with the Crowd Cow. Plus, it is not without any reason. Quite recently, I had a casual talk with a close friend who availed the service… and was full of praise for it.
Before that, I have had quite an experience of ordering meat online over the years. But, truth be told, I wouldn’t call them exactly cheap or budget-friendly for my five-member family. More so, I have found that the cost difference between a value pack of beef at Walmart’s and online meat delivery is almost 50% less in favor of Walmart’s.
However, I am still willing to pay more if only healthy meat is guaranteed. I can go the extra mile to ensure that the meat I am buying is high-quality. Plus, it has come from the farms where cattle are raised and nourished according to the health standards up to the mark. Considering all this, any service that provides a balance of cost and quality immediately grabs my attention. So, this Crowd Cow review will let you know my viewpoint about the service with which I have now a two-time experience.
Crowd Cow: What is it exactly?
Crowd Cow is simply an organic meat delivery service that delivers top-quality meat at economical prices at your doorstep. The categories of meat they provide are multiple. They range from ground beef cut from grass-fed cattle to the Japanese-cut A5 Wagyu.
There are certain things included in my list of likes and dislikes about Crowd Cow:
What I like:
- Meat sourced from a wide range of ranches and cattle farms
- Available in bulk amount packaging starting from 2.7 kilograms (6 pounds) ✓ Quick and reliable delivery What I don’t like:
Not many options to select from, especially in meaty snacks and roasted meat categories
Shipping charges for all orders below 99 USD
Of all the times I have ordered meat online, I know a few of the farms from where they supply meat. But against its competitors, Crowd Cow is unique. They don’t supply meat from a farm or a couple of farms or even their multiple owned farms. Instead, they are partnered with a whole lot of small, independent farms and ranches from where they source meat. Currently, Crowd Cow is in partnership with more than 40 different farms. These farms provide all categories of meat including fish and other seafood. In this way, Crowd Cow provides its customers with a wide range, categories, and varieties of different meaty products.
Crowd Cow: How to order?
Crowd Cow is helpfully playing its middle part in connecting customers and small, independent farms. Considering the resources and knowledge required to build and maintain an e-commerce marketplace, their role becomes more important. This marketplace has provided farmers an easy platform to sell their products and get back to their primary jobs.
Now, there are two options for ordering from Crowd Cow:
- You can order individual, stand-alone products.
- You can subscribe for their monthly membership that will give you 5% off.
Signing up for their membership is practically beneficial. It comes with 5% off with the option to easily cancel anytime. More so, you don’t have to pay shipping charges for orders above 99 USD. However, there is one thing. Be mindful that once signing up for monthly membership, it will repeat on a monthly basis until you call it off or change your plan.
Crowd Cow: How do they ship?
I don’t have enough words to describe how exceptionally quick their shipping is. The two times I ordered, they took just a maximum of three business days! Their official site says delivery times may vary depending on the region and take at least two days. Plus, they also keep you updated via text messages and email notifications. Moreover, I found two things extraordinarily exceptional about them.
First, I noticed that when I opened the packaging both times I ordered from them, the meat content inside was all solid and frozen. Just this was speaking enough about the freshness. Like I mentioned earlier, my experience with ordering meat online is vast. And never have I found such quality standards. Whenever I used to order meat online, the delivery would come in a Butcher Box with melted dry ice. And meat would be measuring over 4 degrees Celsius. This contradicts the health standards. Both me and my wife, who is a food safety inspection officer and a dietician, were unsatisfied. So, Crowd Cow was reliable for us. Secondly, both my two orders came with a handwritten note with information about the farm that supplied the meat.
Crowd Cow: How’s the quality?
Simply put, the quality has been top-notch both times I ordered. Crowd Cow stood out regarding both times my experience with them. Although I had the option to directly buy from the farms and not involve Crowd Cow, I didn’t do it. The reason was simple. I was concerned that buying directly from multiple farms and ranches would lead to an inconsistent experience for the future. Plus, different farms have different health standards and practices.
However, Crowd Cow has set me free from these concerns. Both my orders combinedly involved meat from four different farms, and the quality has been superb. It is one thing to know from which farms your meat has come. It is entirely other to know more about those farms. And Crowd Cow has even enabled that. My biggest concern was that sourcing meat from multiple farms would deteriorate the meat product quality. And this implied you can never actually know the actual product quality until you receive your order. But Crowd Cow proved to be a problem-solver as the product quality was as per my expectations.
Crowd Cow: The final word?
The following points were enough to make me their regular customer:
- By ordering from them, you are helping out small but independent farms that prepare meat as per the health standards.
- The prices for everyday cuts like chicken boneless and ground beef are cheaper. ✓ The packaging is 100% recyclable.
- They deliver quality directly at your doorstep, saving you the time and headache of visiting multiple meat stores.
- The overall meat quality is great and reliable. It is like they have a nocompromise policy for meat product quality.
